Application Checklist for International Transfer
- Application Method: Complete and submit the CofC application.
- Official Transcripts: Read carefully to determine which application credentials you need to submit.
1. If you have 12 or more US college/university credits, submit:
a. Official transcripts from all US colleges/universities attended.
2. If you have 12 or more international college/university credits, submit:
a. Official college/university transcripts from all institutions attended.
b. A course-by-course evaluation report of each of your transcripts must be submitted via one of our approved credential evaluation agencies. Our preferred agencies are Span Tran and IEE. Note, it is the responsibility of the applicant to request this evaluation and provide it to the College of Charleston as part of the admissions process in order for transfer credit to be granted.
3. If you have less than 12 credits of college/university course work from the US or abroad, submit:
a. Official high school transcripts from all schools attended in the original language with the school’s official stamp/seal.
b. Official college/university transcripts from each institution attended.
c. A course-by-course evaluation report of each of your transcripts must be submitted via one of our approved credential evaluation agencies. Our preferred agencies are Span Tran and IEE. Note, it is the responsibility of the applicant to request this evaluation and provide it to the College of Charleston as part of the admissions process in order for transfer credit to be granted.
d. If high school transcripts are written in a language other than English, certified, word-for-word English translations of all high school transcript pages must be submitted.
e. Official final examination results from the examining boards are required if taken.
- Proof of English Proficiency:
Submit one of the following directly to the College of Charleston.
- Duolingo English Test minimum total score of 105.
- iBT TOEFL (code: 5113) minimum score of 80
- IELTS minimum score of 6.5
- iTEP Academic Plus minimum score of 3.8.
- SAT (code: 5113) minimum Evidence Based Reading and Writing (EBRW) score of 500
- ACT (code: 3846) minimum Reading score of 18 and English score of 20
- A grade of ‘C’ or higher in English Composition 101 and 102 (College of Charleston’s equivalent to English 110) from an accredited U.S. university.

If you have completed at least 24 credit hours of coursework at an accredited U.S. university, you may qualify for an English proficiency waiver. Please email international@cofc.edu to determine if you qualify.
