Application Checklist for International First-Year Students
- Application Method: Complete and submit the CofC application or The Common Application (Common App).
- Official Transcripts: Submit your complete high school transcripts directly to College of Charleston in the original language with the school’s official stamp/seal .
- Certified Translations: If transcripts are written in a language other than English, certified, word-for-word English translations of all transcript pages must be submitted.
- English Proficiency. Please submit one of the following six exam scores directly to College of Charleston. If English is your native language, you may qualify for an English proficiency waiver. Please email international@cofc.edu to determine if you qualify.
- Duolingo English Test minimum total score of 105.
- iBT TOEFL (code: 5113) minimum score of 80
- IELTS minimum score of 6.5
- iTEP Academic Plus minimum score of 3.8.
- SAT (code: 5113) minimum Evidence Based Reading and Writing (EBRW) score of 500
- ACT (code: 3846) minimum Reading score of 18 and English score of 20
- Copy of passport picture/data page.
Advanced Standing Credit
The College awards credit for selected Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), Cambridge International Exams (A Levels), and College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams based on the student’s scores. Please refer to our Credit by Exam webpage for further details.
Test-Optional Information
Students applying for admission through Fall 2025 may choose to have their application evaluated with or without SAT or ACT scores.
