Crossing the Bridge to the College of Charleston

Your Next Steps  

  1. CONFIRM YOUR ENROLLMENT

A) Pay via credit card or eCheck (preferred).

  1. Go to MyPortal. 

  2. Use your CofC ID (from your Charleston Bridge offer letter) as the username. Your default password will be your CofC ID followed by your birthday in the format MMDDYY followed by A! (including the !). You’ll be prompted to update your password and set up security questions.

  3. Select the MyAccounts tab, scroll to the bottom and click the link that says Log onto eBill account. (Click on the button to Open my eBill Account.)

  4. In the new pop-up window, select Deposits at the top, then select the term you’ll be entering CofC.

  5. In the drop-down menu, select the Charleston Bridge Student (The system will prompt you to submit the $400 deposit, which officially confirms your spot in the entering class.)

B) Return your enrollment confirmation form along with $400 non-refundable check or money order made payable to College of Charleston to: Treasurer’s Office, College of Charleston, 66 George St., Charleston, S.C. 29424-0001.

Don't forget to set up your MyPortal account and CofC email address

Once we process your enrollment confirmation deposit you’ll receive your permanent/updated CofC credentials and CofC email access – they will be sent to the email address you used on your application. You will use that updated username moving forward with your original password. 

2. APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID

Complete your FAFSA.

Submit your FAFSA to Trident Technical College, as well as the College of Charleston. To adequately plan for a full year of enrollment, submit your FAFSA to both institutions. FAFSA codes: 004920 (TTC) and 003428 (CofC). Go to your FAFSA.

3. APPLY FOR HOUSING AND SELECT A MEAL PLAN

Complete the College of Charleston housing application and select your meal plan.  

As a Charleston Bridge program participant, you must live on campus at the College of Charleston and purchase a freshmen resident meal plan. Housing applications must be completed by May 1; however, your spot in the program will not be secured until you’ve applied for housing. 

To access the housing application, log into MyPortal using your alphabetical username (the first half of your Cmail address) and click the MyHousing/Dining portal icon at the top right. Once in the portal, click the Apply for Housing/Meal Plan button. You will be prompted to pay the $50 housing application fee. During the application process, you will designate your housing emergency contact, answer profile questions, select a meal plan, create a roommate group (optional), and sign your housing contract. For students under the age of 18, your parent or guardian will also be required to sign the housing contract.

Students accepted into Charleston Bridge are required to have a Freshmen Resident Meal Plan and live on the College of Charleston campus for the fall and spring semesters. Get residence hall information and rates.

4. REGISTER FOR ORIENTATION - Opens mid-March 

Register for Charleston Bridge Orientation.

Students entering the program in fall, must attend the Charleston Bridge OrientationOnce the tuition deposit is paid and the CofC housing/meal plan application is complete, students will receive an email sent to their CofC email account with a link for orientation registration.  Family members are not required to participate in orientation but are welcome to attend with their student. There are no placement tests required or fee charged for participating in orientation

5. SEND YOUR OFFICIAL, FINAL TRANSCRIPTS

Your high school transcript will be used to confirm your graduation and determine your eligibility for state scholarships. Your college transcript will be required if you’ve taken dual enrollment college courses. (You’ll also need to send any AP/IB test results to CofC.)
