Growing up, I was constantly on the road every summer with my family, traveling everywhere around the country in an RV. That environment led me to become addicted to traveling. I transferred to the College in 2009 and got involved with the tour guide association, Charleston 40. I was a founding member of my sorority and was on the Senior Council. I am so excited to represent my alma mater on the road!
How does what you studied connect with your career?: The Liberal Arts education provided me with the skills needed to succeed in a wide variety of jobs. My major encouraged an appreciation for cities and architecture, and what better way to share the knowledge I gained than as a representative for one of the oldest Colleges in the nation.
Why did you choose to become an admissions counselor?: When I was going through the application process as a high school student, I was very impressed with the way the counselors treated me; I wasn't just another number. The relationship that I established with my counselor gave me the confidence I needed to be successful at the College and to get involved outside of the classroom. I knew that once I graduated I wanted to reach out to others going through their College search and help them, just as CofC helped me.
Favorite Thing to Do in Charleston: Get "lost" in the city and discover more of Charleston's charm.
Favorite Restaurant in Charleston: Five Loaves, and (when someone else is paying) Peninsula Grill
Favorite Quote: "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." - Winston Churchill
Favorite College Memory: The Graduation ceremony was by far my favorite memory at the College. It was such a happy moment to walk across the cistern and receive my diploma while my close friends and family were there watching.
Fun Fact: I've visited every state except Hawaii.
