Application Checklist for International Transfer

  • Application Method: Complete and submit the CofC application or The Common Application (Common App).
  • Official Transcripts: Please read carefully to determine which application credentials you need to submit. 

1. If you have 24 or more US college/university credits, submit:

a.  Official transcripts from all US colleges/universities attended.

2. If you have 24 or more international college/university credits, submit:

a.  Official college/university transcripts from all institutions attended.

b.  A course-by-course evaluation report of each transcripts prepared by a Credential Evaluation Agency (fee charged). View a list of approved Credential Evaluation Agencies. Please note it is the responsibility of the applicant to request this evaluation and provide it to the College of Charleston as a part of the admission process in order for transfer credit to be granted.

3. If you have less than 24 credits of college/university course work from the US or abroad, submit:

a.   Official high school transcripts from all schools attended in the original language with the school’s official stamp/seal.

b.   Official college/university transcripts from each institution attended.

c.   A course-by-course evaluation report of all college/university transcripts prepared by a Credential Evaluation Agency (fee charged). View a list of approved Credential Evaluation Agencies. Please note it is the responsibility of the applicant to request this evaluation and provide it to the College of Charleston as a part of the admission process in order for transfer credit to be granted.

d.   If high school transcripts are written in a language other than English, certified, word-for-word English translations of all high school transcript pages must be submitted. 

e.   Official final examination results from the examining boards are required if taken.

  • Standardized Examination Scores/Proof of English Proficiency: 

a.   Submit one of the following directly to the College of Charleston.

b.   Standardized exam scores and or completion of English Composition I and Composition II with a “C” letter grade or higher is required of each transfer applicant to the College of Charleston unless applicants have over 24 completed semester credit hours of college/university course work from an accredited U.S. college/university.

      1. iBT TOEFL (code: 5113) minimum score of 80
      2. IELTS minimum score of 6.5
      3. iTEP Academic Plus minimum score of 3.8. Virtual, at-home testing option available online here:www.itepexam.com/virtual-testing
      4. SAT (code: 5113) minimum Evidence Based Reading and Writing (EBRW) score of 500
      5. ACT (code: 3846) minimum Reading score of 18 and English score of 20
      6. A grade of “C” or better in English Composition 101 and 102(College of Charleston’s equivalent to English 110) from an accredited US college or university.
  • Copy of Passport Picture/Data Page.
